Team Jatayu is the official motorsports team of Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology, Delhi. The team comprises of 40 talented automobile enthusiasts.
Event Overview :
We take part in Baja competitions that involve a four day long cycle of events i.e Static and Dynamic Events with the first two days dedicated to static events and the last two days for dynamic events.
Static Events are the events when the car does not move. These include the cost report, the technical inspection, and the design aspects of competition. The first day of competition is dedicated to technical inspection, where judges scrutinize every inch of the car to make sure that it meets all of the competition rules and specifications. The second day is dedicated to the design aspect of competition, where teams are given the chance to explain to judges what separates their car from the rest, what testing was done to drive decisions, and to point out any other innovations.
Dynamic events take place on the third and fourth days of competition. The third day is exclusively for time trials. Each team races their car through a number of events including a maneuverability course, an acceleration track, a hill climb or tractor pull event, and a special event specified for each competition (water maneuverability, suspension and traction, or rock crawl). The fourth day of competition is reserved for a four hour endurance race in which all participating teams are on the same track at once, racing wheel-to-wheel. This part of the competition is the event worth the most points and makes designing and fabrication for durability paramount to success.
What we do?
Team Jatayu Baja Racing is an engineering project team which annually designs, builds and races an off-road vehicle to compete in the Competitions like , Baja student India, Baja SAE INDIA and Baja SAE USA. We dedicate ourselves in making our ATV strong enough to cross all the hurdles.
Phases involved :
The chassis and the sub-assemblies are modelled using CAD software based on calculations of impacts and forces. Many iterations are run through and the components are optimized for maximum strength at the lightest weight possible.
We employ a multitude of value added processes like cutting, grinding, drilling ,brazing and welding to manufacture the components designed by us,adding life to our vehicle.
3. Assembling and testing
We assemble our work with the mechanical joints and Welding works, and give the final shape to the vehicle. Endurance is judged through the various tests under extreme conditions, we try to make it immune to failures and breakdowns.
